1) APPLY FOR A VISA OR WORK PERMIT

For citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland 🆓

They benefit from free movement within European territory and can settle and work in France without applying for a visa or work permit.

A visa or work permit is mandatory to work in France. It is sometimes possible to stay and work in France for less than 3 months but it depends on your country of residence.

4) TAKE CARE OF INSURANCE

They benefit from the European Union Social Security Coordination so they should still benefit from their own insurance even if they are traveling to France. But when an employee has never been covered by French Social Security, their employer must carry out the formalities required to register them.

5) LEARN ABOUT FRANCE

The horse racing industry is global so speaking and writing French may not be mandatory to work in racing in France. Yet it will always be helpful to learn French in your day-to-day life as an expatriate. It is important to know about state organizations, housing regulations, opening a personal bank account and labor laws (especially taxes) related to your job. 🌎
