The Horserace Betting Levy Board collects an annual levy from the horseracing business of betting operators and distributes it in accordance with the organisation’s statutory responsibilities. In 2023, this includes £86m of budgeted funding directly related to the staging of approaching 1,500 fixtures.
Reporting to the Racing & Betting Manager, the Data Analyst will assess the performance of race by race betting data, in particular in relation to the cost effectiveness of certain racing related expenditure, and provide comprehensive statistical analysis, data driven evidence and recommendations to Horseracing and Betting Industry representatives. They will be expected to drive innovation and change to grow betting activity on British Racing.
The ideal candidate will be highly numerate, likely qualified to degree level or equivalent in mathematics, statistics or a related field, with advanced Excel skills and experience in effectively scrutinising significant quantities of data. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate data effectively to a wide range of stakeholders will be essential, as will an understanding and appreciation of racing and betting.
