Are you a creative and highly organised events specialist that thrives on putting together memorable events ranging from 50 – 5,000 attendees?
Racing Queensland is looking for an experienced Events Manager to join our Customer and Corporate Affairs team on ten-month fixed-term contract, until the end of October 2025, with flexible work options to deliver its major events portfolio throughout the 2025 calendar year.
Join our Team of Everyday Champions
At Racing Queensland (RQ), we don’t just race; we raise the standards and exceed them, championing an industry that unites and excites. Here, we all are part of something bigger than ourselves, driven by a passion to not only support but also elevate our state and its vibrant communities.
Our Everyday Champions are at the heartbeat of the racing industry. Working in every corner of our industry – on the frontlines, behind the scenes, and at the heart of every code – to help make racing the best it can be, driving our mission forward to champion great racing and events connecting Queensland communities.
Who are we?
Racing Queensland (RQ) is a statutory body whose primary purpose is to connect Queenslanders through great racing, events and the love of our animals. RQs Vision is to be the number 1 sporting industry in the sunshine state.
The role:
The Events Manager is responsible for taking ownership of RQ’s event portfolio and work in conjunction with internal departments, clubs, sponsors, suppliers and stakeholders to ensure that our events are project managed at the highest level across several key areas.
This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you will play the lead role in celebrating the great achievements of our industry. With your grit, resilience and “get it done attitude”, you will build trusted partnerships with all stakeholder groups. We recruit values-aligned people into Racing Queensland who lead by example and thrive on delivering results in a high performance culture.
Some key events you will be a part of
- The Q grand opening – The future of Queensland greyhound racing has arrived with The Q set to open near Ipswich in early 2025. Featuring three world-class tracks – Q1 Lakeside, Q2 Parklands and The Q Straight – the venue is poised to reimagine greyhound racing in Australia with animal welfare at the core of design and construction.
- Deagon Community Raceday – The Deagon Raceday plans to return to the bayside community in March 2025. Last run in 2018, it’s a family-friendly picnic race meeting enjoyed by over 1,500 local residents with a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with racing animals from the three codes.
- Greyhound & Harness Awards – Held in February and March each year, these events are attended by approximately 200 industry participants each year to celebrate the accomplishments from on and off the track.
- Ladbrokes Ultimate Driver – The Ultimate Driver is a unique series that sees 10 slot holders select a harness driver from around the globe to compete over two nights at Albion Park for more than $250,000 in prize money.
What does success look like?
Success in this role means bringing the ‘WOW’ to each event on the calendar to help create, or celebrate, the great achievements of the near 50,000 Queenslanders who make up this great industry. You’ll build strong relationships with stakeholders, demonstrate a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, and take initiative in driving our key events forward. Your ability to balance day-to-day tasks with long-term objectives, while maintaining flexibility in a fast-paced environment, will ensure you thrive and grow in your role.
