Responsibilities:
The Sr. Underwriter, Equine provides technical and authoritative support, as well as effective management, for all underwriting/administrative initiatives in the accomplishment of the corporation’s financial, strategic and business plan objectives as respects to the Equine/Cattle Program. Key functions include but are not limited to:
- Manage a book of equine and livestock mortality business
- Responsible for the growth of that book to meet the goals and objectives of the business unit
- Achieve terms, conditions and pricing that meet company profit objectives
- Achieve loss ratio and production goals and deliver exceptional services in a timely manner
- Collaborate with agents and brokers to foster productive and profitable relationships
- Participate in continuing education and training
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in related field of study preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in equine and livestock underwriting
- Advance knowledge of horses, including the various breeds and uses. Knowledge of common diseases and health issues with horses.
- Proven track record of underwriting an equine and livestock portfolio
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products
- Ability to travel as needed, including overnight travel
- In or open to relocation to Lexington, KY
