We have a fantastic opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to carry out general and varied duties in connection with the maintenance and development of the Gardens, the Newmarket Training Grounds and the wider Jockey Club Estate.

The Grounds Maintenance Operative will
• Assist with the presentation and maintenance of the Gardens and Training Grounds to the highest standard.
• Be responsible for all aspects of Garden Maintenance.
• Use the compact tractor when required.
• Assist with grass maintenance including using push mowers, ride on mowers and strimming.
• Walk/move gallops when required and assist with the maintenance of in-use gallops.
. Assist with hedge cutting when necessary.
• Litter pick the gardens.
• Operate in a way that ensures you are a recognised role model for the Jockey Club Values and Behaviours
• Comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices in accordance with current legislation and as detailed in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and procedures.
• Take personal responsibility for the sustainability of the company by minimising waste of company resources as well as protecting the environment as described in the company’s Environment Management System.
About you
• Hold a Full driving licence and be competent in Tractor driving.
• Great understanding of Health & Safety legislation
• Garden Maintenance Experience
• Relevant experience working as a Grounds Person, Ground Worker, or Farm worker.
• Ability to work on own initiative, but also as part of a team with a can-do attitude.
