POSITION: Full time, Janitor forOff-Track Betting Facility

SALARY: $21.89/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

This full time Janitor position is at our Off-Track Betting Facility. This position is a SEIU union position. Shifts are Thursday through Monday. This schedule may vary due to racing schedules, holidays and staff coverage. This full-time benefited Union position includes generous health and welfare package, sick leave, holiday and vacation pay according to the collective bargaining agreement. The selected candidate will be required to be in or join SEIU (Service Employees International Union) and remain in good standing throughout employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creating a clean and safe environment for our guests and staff
Pristine maintenance of our guest restrooms
Conscientious care of carpet and tile flooring using a variety of equipment including vacuums, brooms, mops, scrubbers and wax strippers
Clearing and cleaning of tables
Trash collection and removal
Up keeping the general maintenance of the facility to present a clean and well cared for environment for our guests
Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Experience in all aspects of janitorial including floor care
Previous experience using janitorial equipment such as mops, brooms and floor scrubbers preferred
Good communication, English required, bilingual in Spanish a plus
Proven reliability demonstrated in past work experience
Experience working individual and on a team
Ability to work flexible hours as needed
Ability to work weekends and holidays
Able to lift 40 lbs.

For over 100 years the Alameda County Fairgrounds has been a part of the community hosting over 250 events a year and an annual Fair that includes live concerts, tasting fests and cultural festivals and live horse racing that bring in nearly a half-million guests every summer.
